Kori Withers, singer, songwriter and daughter of Bill Withers, will be joined by the FreeHorse Arts herd along with special guests from the Richmond music and dance communities to include members from City Dance, Weekend Plans, and the First African Baptist Church Choir. Kori will share personal stories and perform music from Bill’s extensive catalogue, honoring his life and legacy.

One of the most sought-after performing storytellers in the United States, with a silly putty voice, hilarious heart-filled stories, and amazing mouth noises (arguably, the greatest whistler in the world) one-person-showman, Andy Offutt Irwin, is equal parts mischievous schoolboy and the Marx Brothers, peppered with a touch of the Southern balladeer.
Andy will be joined by storytellers Darci Tucker and Gayle Turner.
Gayle Turner has been telling stories since they were called lies. Appearing on stage for over 60 years, Gayle revels in sharing personal stories as well as tales from literature and history. As CEO of The Storytellers Channel, he delights in helping people tell their stories well. He is the Executive Producer of The Hearts Afire Storytelling Series, the Mountain Mac Virginia Liars Contest and the Stories Matter! Workshops and Showcases.
Darci Tucker is an historian, author, playwright, actress and storyteller. She portrays more than 20 women from American history, and performs in venues nationwide. She literally wrote the book on how to portray people from history and literature, and she trains teachers and museum professionals to teach through storytelling and character interpretation.

Richmond’s quintessential oldies vocal harmony group, Bak N Da Day, returns to kick off CACGA’s 2nd Stage concert series. Founded in 1999 by Russell Bennett, the group draws their material from a repertoire of nearly 100 songs, spanning the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s and encompassing musical genres like doo-wop, Motown, Philly soul, and even Broadway. Take a trip down memory lane as you enjoy your favorite songs by the Temptations, the Miracles, the Four Tops, Lionel Richie and the Commodores, and more!

The Soul Shakers are an all-star collection of Richmond music veterans led by drummer/vocalist, Chris Mendez (The Taters). The group plays a mix of classic R&B, southern soul, and Motown. Anchored by a solid rhythm section, this feel-good ensemble is augmented by blazing horns and impeccable vocals. Attention all lovers of Americana, bluegrass, and The Grateful Dead!! You don’t want to miss Deadgrass - a string band adventure through Jerry Garcia’s musical world. Matt Turk and C Lanzbom join forces with bassist Dave Richards, banjo player Boo Reiners, and fiddler Kensuke Shoji to complete this fine group of seasoned pros exploring the life works of Jerry Garcia on the instruments that first inspired him. Deadgrass celebrates and artfully interprets the music of Jerry Garcia with authenticity and passion. Drawing material from Old & in the Way, Jerry Garcia Band, Jerry’s Jug Band days and, of course, the Grateful Dead, Deadgrass is sure to provide an unforgettable evening of melodic music and psychedelic jams! Indoor 2nd Stage Show! Few singers could match the charm and talent that Lawrence Olds brings to the stage every time he performs. For more than 20 years he has entertained audiences along the east coast from New York City to Key West, lending his rich vocals and warm personality to the standards of the Great American Songbook. He has been featured at the Richmond Jazz Festival, TV 6 morning show, and The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, and he has become a staple here at The Cultural Arts Center. With stunning visual backdrops, ambient nature sounds, and a unique collection of well-loved winterludes, this show transports audience members into a delightful and healing evening of songs and poetry reflecting on the transition from winter to spring - moving through dark times and finding hope ahead. Presented by Henrico Theatre Company! As Patsy Cline’s most successful musical disciple and dear friend, no person was better suited to record a tribute to the late country legend than Loretta Lynn. Lynn used her clout at MCA to record the tribute LP, I Remember Patsy. Released on April 4, 1977, 14 years after Cline’s death, the album features nine of Cline’s biggest hits. This stage production is an homage to both country legends. It tells the story of their friendship and features 22 songs including “Crazy”, “She’s Got You”, “Back in Baby’s Arms”, “Sweet Dreams”, “You’re Lookin’ at Country”, “You Ain’t Woman Enough to Take My Man” and “Coal Miner’s Daughter”. Starring HTC favorites Shannon Gibson Brown and Jenny Fralin, accompanied by Joshua Wortham.
Born out of the early 1970’s in New York City, the music of Steely Dan has been described as intricate, jazz-infused rock and pop with sophisticated songwriting, complex harmonic structures, and witty lyrics. Highly regarded among serious musicians and sophisticated music fans, the Rev 4/14/25 PW band’s sound is anything but easy to copy. But leave it to a group of dedicated and talented RVA musicians to rise to the occasion. Deputy Dan, made up of David Lennon (guitar), Ron Sada (guitar), Gerald Hemphill (drums), Steve Wetzler (bass), John Holmes (keyboards), and Allen Burris (sax/flute/woodwinds), brings their tribute to the iconic sounds of Steely Dan to The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen’s Cardinal Ballroom in February 2026! With special guest, Steely Dan drummer, Bernard “Pretty” Purdie!
A solo musical tour-de-force starring RTCC Best Actress winner Dorothy “Dee D.” Miller, Hi-Hat Hattie takes place backstage of an old theater where Hattie McDaniel recalls the incredible events of her storied show business life. An important figure in America’s entertainment and race relations, McDaniel broke down Hollywood barriers, including being the first African American woman to sing on radio and the first African American actor to win an Academy Award for her role as Mammy in “Gone with the Wind.” Daughter of former slaves, McDaniel battled segregation and racism growing up in the Jim Crow-era. However, she was routinely criticized by many, including the NAACP, for playing subservient roles and blacklisted by studios. The controversy surrounding her career is an important reminder that these issues are never simple. Featuring jazz and blues classics like “St. Louis Blues,” “Danny Boy,” “Can’t Help Lovin Dat Man,” “Amazing Grace” and more!

While the world marveled at her 3-octave contra alto range, she humbly considered herself to be “a drummer who sang.” Karen rose to fame in the early 70’s along with her brother Richard as darlings of the easy-listening duo, The Carpenters. Together they turned out a slew ofhits including “Close to You”, “Rainy Days and Mondays”, “I’m On the Top of the World”, “Superstar”, “Bless the Beasts and the Children”, “Merry Christmas Darling” and many, many more. A true master of blues harmonica, guitar, and voice, Kevin has been electrifying audiences throughout the Midwest for more than 25 years. An Iowa native and Iowa Blues Hall-of-Famer, his soul-inspired presentation is unique and personal, consistently drawing comparisons to the likes of greats such as Bill Withers, Aaron Neville, and even B.B. King. A prolific performer, Kevin is known to play over 300 shows each year. When he is not on stage singing and playing the blues, he is in the classroom sharing his knowledge as a master clinician for Central Iowa Blues Society’s Blues in the Schools program. He can also be found acting and arranging music for stage plays from Iowa City to NewYork and DC. Don’t miss Kevin Burt and his amazing band, Big Medicine, live in Glen Allen. Originally founded in 1989 by Michelle & Nick Nixon, the current line-up features the Nixons supported by Randy Cook (pedal steel), Morgan Easter (keys), Steve Easter (bass), Eddie Shiflett (guitar/mando), and Craig Lokey (drums). Slate River Band returns to CenterField with covers of classic country music hits from the 60’s to today – with an emphasis on the 90’s. As a former executive director of The Crooked Road: Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail and a 20-year member of the Celtibillies, Jack Hinshelwood has been keeping Virginia’s Blue Ridge music traditions alive and well for over 50 years. Through his work as a singer, songwriter, and awardwinning multi-instrumentalist, Jack has entertained audiences with a broad swath of traditional and Americana music on guitar, fiddle, harmonica, and vocals. He is a winner of the Knoxville World’s Fair Guitar Championship, the Wayne Henderson Guitar Championship, and a two-time winner of the prestigious Galax Old Fiddler’s Convention guitar contest. What better way to close out the season than to swing with one of the greatest bands of all time! The Glenn Miller Orchestra, one of the most popular and sought after big bands in the world today brings its unique brand of smooth and swinging jazz to The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen. Formed in 1938 by arranger Glenn Miller, the original orchestra worked until 1942. The current band was formed in 1956 and has been touring worldwide ever since as a tribute to the wonderful music of this bygone era. Lush horn and wind arrangements soar above the soft danceable grooves of the rhythm section, as silky vocals flood.
