This exhibit highlights a juried selection of works by Center pottery students. Local ceramicist, Leslie Messersmith, as juror, chose 28 unique pieces to showcase. Works includes sculpted figures, textured vessels, lanterns, and more in a variety of styles reflecting the personalities and talents of their artist.
About The Juror
Leslie Messersmith is a ceramic artist whose studio, Locust Hill Pottery, is based in Mechanicsville. Her early training in production pottery and her degree in sculpture from VCU have carried her on a path to creating useful and beautiful objects. She enjoys making sculptural, decorative objects, using many different ceramic processes to create her work. She is inspired by the natural world and by the rich history of ceramics worldwide. She participates in several local craft shows annually and her work is available year-round at Virginia galleries: A Touch of Earth (Williamsburg); Gallery 527 (Scottsville) and locally at the VMFA Gift Shop’s Virginia Artisan Gallery.
