Soundworks is Central Virginia's premier men's a cappella ensemble! In recent years, the ensemble has delighted audiences in Virginia and throughout the Mid-Atlantic
region. The group's dynamic repertoire encompasses a wide range of musical genres including contemporary a cappella, doo-wop, folk, gospel, holiday music,
jazz, barbershop, chorale works and more! Over the years, Soundworks has been crowned champions in both modern a cappella and barbershop harmony competitions. Formed in 2005, the ensemble includes men of all ages and from all walks of life. The ensemble will showcase small groups, quartets and whole chorus songs throughout the evening. If you love tight four-six part harmony, then this concert is a “must see” event that is perfect for all ages. Antique Melody Show is a heralding journey of 1920s, 30s and 40s radio stars such as Annette Hanshaw, Mae West, Fats Waller, Judy Garland & Billie Holiday - just to name a few. Sprinkle in some pastiche with Squirrel Nut Zippers, Post Modern Juke Box and other roots jazz contemporaries and you'll experience their gumbo of traditional jazz standards, tin pan alley, ragtime, Broadway show tunes and saloon croon coming at you from their unique style of stripped down arrangements. Bluegrass fans unite! The Big Boss Combo is a 5 piece bluegrass quartet featuring the family style singing of the Johnson Brothers, all the way from the upscale Aluminum Acres trailer park and campground community in Limber West Virginia. Forced to make money playing music as children to feed the family livestock, the Limber Johnson Boys grew to love to disappoint a crowd starved for entertainment. Combo members have played Leno, Letterman, Rosie, Conan, CMT Awards, the Grand Ole Opry, the Birchmere, and The Old Dominion Barn Dance to name a few.
