6:00 pm

Join us for ART NIGHT, Thursday, January 13, from 6-8pm at The Cultural Arts Center! Admission is free and all exhibits are family-friendly. New exhibits on display will include:

COMPULSORY MEASURES:

In response to a culture saturated with devices that distance, digitize, and disembody, the artists in this exhibit embrace repetition and ritual as mindful strategies to ascertain meaning. Bordering on the obsessive, Jorge Benitez, Kristy Deetz, Al Denyer, Joan Elliott, Reni Gower, Steven Pearson, Jennifer Printz, and Tanja Softić provide lifelines for ‘making sense’ out of the chaos entrenched in contemporary society. By utilizing complex systems, intricate patterning, repetitive marking, or minute detail; Compulsory Measures offers revelatory and celebratory works slowly crafted by hand.

INVERDANT: PSALMS :

This collection of paintings by Elizabeth Cabell interpret the Psalms through the quondam language of flowers. Each individual psalm evokes differing and myriad emotions which is represented here as its own individual bouquet. Every flower held within the bouquet represents one of the emotions found in its psalm.

MEANDERING THOUGHTS IN WOOD:

Tom Lowe has the ability to take the natural element of wood and envision a free form sculpture. Wood, in itself, is quite unique. Each sculpture can have different depth, color, and grain. Tom captures that uniqueness to bring out the natural beauty of wood, creating a seamless sculpture derived from a single log.

FABRIC OF LIVES

Featuring works by Lucy Kilpatrick. Created at the start of the pandemic are mostly portraits and scenes created by fabric, machine threads and glue depicting real, or imagined people.

Masks will be required while inside the building at all times. Our gift shop will also be open and full of new, unique items by local makers. Mark your calendar to attend!
