Since 2013, The Center has partnered with Henrico Police Athletic League (PAL) to provide a full academic year of afterschool, on-site, visual arts programming at 4 elementary schools. Henrico PAL strives to bridge the gap between police officers and the community. In appreciation of their mission, The Center provides instructors and art supplies free of charge in a partnership that enriches young lives through Art.

James River Juvenile Detention Center: The Cultural Arts Center partners with Henrico County to bring evocative art experiences to JRJDC residents. Whether it is the visual arts, improvisational theatre lessons, creating mural art, visiting a museum exhibit, or attending a theatrical performance, our teachers engage residents in positive self-expression and public art exhibitions. Participation in the cultural arts imparts a new capacity for young people to do more than they imagine possible. These opportunities to build self-awareness, communication skills, and confidence in their accomplishments all work towards reducing recidivism and increasing self-esteem.
Henrico Juvenile Detention Home: Youth in the juvenile justice system need mentorship. At HJDC, personal relationship with an adult who understands opens alternatives and provides stability for teen boys and girls awaiting placement. Our teachers use chess, personal experience, and writing to share chess-like strategies for real life choices.
By taking jewelry and craft classes directly to senior communities, residents enjoy a piece of the Cultural Arts Center in the convenience of their own activity centers. Currently, classes are provided at Aspire at West End, the Compass at Springdale Park and Avery Point.
The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen relies upon the generosity of friends, corporations, foundations, the County of Henrico and its Board of Directors to provide first-rate programming to the greater Richmond community at affordable prices. The Center is the only regional facility to provide access to the performing, visual and literary arts through performances and classes. As a registered 501(c)3 organization, contributions to The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen are tax deductible to the extent of the law. Gifts of any amount increase the quantity and quality of artistic opportunities available to the community. Donations may be made by cash, securities or credit card and can be made in a single payment or in installments.
