Teen Linoleum Print-Making (Ages 12-17)

Instructor:

Learn relief print-making techniques by carving into soft linoleum, rolling on ink, and making multiple prints on paper. In these studio sessions, students can also experiment with layering, collage, and printing on fabric. Students will be free to create the images they want and will be looking at a variety of ancient to modern day print-making artists for inspiration.

Java Minecraft (Ages 7-14) (Winter and Spring)

Instructor:

All Star Tech VA

Students will learn Java programming and basic coding concepts as they design and build their own customized Minecraft server.

Shibori Dying Techniques (Ages 15 and up) (Winter and Spring)

Instructor:

Kathryn Sullivan

Shibori is the ancient Japanese style of resist dying using binding techniques. Explore different techniques of resist dying such as stitching (touch of mokume), pole wrapping, binding, and clamping. Plant based fabrics and sabricon dyes will be used to create multiple samples.

Saturdays, April 22 and 29

Cost: $45. Students must also bring 2 yards of cellulose (plant) fabric such as cotton (recommended), hemp, soy, rayon, bamboo, and/or linen, as well as two spools of non-flavored dental floss.
