To schedule a meeting or facility tour for event rentals, please call 804-261-6211.

Please note: Mountain Road will be closed beginning on 2/26 and this closure is expected to last for approximately one month.  Detour signs will be posted. THE OFFICIAL DETOUR ROUTE DURING THE TIME OF CLOSURE WILL BE Woodman Road -> Terry Drive -> Purcell Road -> MOUNTAIN ROAD.

If you are coming the Center on I 295, take the Woodman Road South Exit (#45 B).  Cross over Mountain Road and proceed approximately one mile.  Turn Right onto Terry.  When Terry ends, turn right onto Purcell.  When Purcell ends turn right onto Mountain Road.  Proceed to the Center’s main entrance indicated by the electronic sign and turn left into the Center.

The other option is to come from Staples Mill traveling East.  (The road closure does not affect this route…but the train track might.) safe travels and we look forward to having you visit!

Volunteer!

Volunteer!

Be Inspired! The Cultural Arts Center offers many fun and rewarding ways to get involved and support the arts! Smiling faces are needed at all of our Center Season performances to welcome our guests, scan tickets, pass out programs and show guests to their seats. Courteous and flexible volunteers are needed to cover the front desk from time to time.  During our gallery opening receptions and our special events we depend on volunteers to help with everything from set up to serving food to baking cookies or even to be Mrs. Claus and her elves!

Our volunteers have tremendously impacted our ability to provide affordable arts education and entertainment to the surrounding community since The Center opened in 1999. Over the past year, our volunteers were able to donate a combined 1,200 volunteer hours to help support the arts in the community! This year we have even more exciting programs planned and we would appreciate your involvement and support.

OPENING MINDS THROUGH ART
Opening Minds through Art (OMA) – a program for people and families experiencing Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. What is OMA?OMA is an award-winning, evidence-based, intergenerational art-making program for people with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of neurocognitive disorders. Its failure-free program provides opportunities for creative self-expression and social engagement for people with dementia. OMA also provides volunteers with opportunities to improve their attitudes toward aging through the weekly interaction with OMA program participants. The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen has been awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to launch The OMA Center on our campus specifically for people with dementia who still live at home.  Data from the Alzheimer's Association indicates that as many as 20,000 individuals with dementia in the greater Richmond area live at home with an unpaid caregiver.  The Center will offer the award-winning program alongside programming for their caregivers. For more information or to register, contact Cindy Rinker at 804-261-6205 or email RIN080@henrico.us.
