We are joining with the public libraries and schools to celebrate All Henrico Reads, a community wide reading event. The theme is Lost in Time, and several award-winning books have been chosen for all ages. Read the books and join us for an art-related program! The Center will be hosting events both on-site and at some of the libraries for the book chosen for Pre-K and Primary school aged children, Flotsam by David Wiesner.

Sand Art: Join The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen (CACGA) for fun in the sand! Meet us at the Library for this great activity for all ages! Free

Photo Contest:

Children and teens are encouraged to submit entries for an “All Henrico Reads” inspired Photography contest. The theme is My Imaginary World. Entries will be judged in three age groups, Grade 1-5, Grades 6-8 and Grades 9-12. Winners will be chosen in each category for “Best of Show”, “Most Creative” and “Honorable Mention”. For more details, please visit your local library or call The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen -804-261-ARTS (2787) to receive an entry form. Entries being accepted beginning April 1. All entries will be displayed at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen and later at local libraries.

Traveling Art Journals: In Flotsam, a young boy finds a magical camera with a photograph of children from around the world and from different times holding a photo of the child that had the camera before them. In this workshop, you’ll begin the journey of a small art journal by creating your own unique artwork on page one and then send your book off into the world and see where it goes and all the different styles of art that come back with it!
