Oils & Chalk...All New Art Experience (rising 1st-6th graders)

Young Rembrandts

Roll up your sleeves…prepare for some fun…get ready for an art adventure like no other! Using both oil and chalk pastels, this workshop will include an amazing and beautiful assortment of projects. Students will create on paper, board, fabric and other surfaces that they may have never created on before. Students will learn about artistic design, study the color wheel, understand how to use color, and create one-of-a-kind masterpieces ready to be framed.

The Art of Space - The Final Frontier (rising 1st-6th graders)

Space…the final frontier…an awesome out of this world art experience! During this exciting week, we will learn about famous astronauts, forms of space travel, planets and the solar system. We will learn about well-known artists who create beautiful space scenes and study their techniques. Artists will also spend a day imagining and then creating very cool aliens! Boys and girls alike will love this program.

Painting Classes for Elementary Artists (rising 1st-6th graders)

All new for 2012…painting classes for children. This class can get messy and we love it! Students will learn about and use the tools necessary to create in this medium and learn techniques that professional artists use to create beautiful still life creations and landscapes. You may even draw and paint a cartoon or two. During this awesome program you will use the fundamentals of line, shape, form, pattern, and texture to learn how to paint. Please be sure to wear old clothes and bring a smock/apron for the week.

Art and Nature - Two of Our Favorite Things! (rising 1st-6th graders)

Love nature? Love art? If yes, then join us for a week of creative expression and inspiration. This multi-media extravaganza will include creating animals, landscapes, still life, and batik art, using tools ranging from pencil to wax, to watercolor paint and pastels. Nature’s majesty is everywhere and provides beautiful lighting, shapes, textures and color. Some mixed media projects will incorporate the use of natural materials that we see every day. Please bring a smock and wear old clothes for the week.

African Safari Drawing Adventures - Animals of Africa
(rising 1st-6th graders)

Set out on your own Safari! Animals of Africa will inspire us this week as we explore the exciting land and habitats of this continent. You will also learn techniques to draw amazing landscapes of the African jungle. To keep things fun, we will also create some cartoon characters. We will challenge our artistic talents by creating a large poster – in a graphic style, filled with a variety of jungle friends. Our exploration through Africa allows for a bounty of adventure and creativity. Learning has never been so much fun!

Ocean Adventures (rising 1st-6th graders)

Sea creatures, seascapes, sea foam and seashells will inspire this week long study of the ocean and its beauty. This art workshop will introduce our young artists to a vast array of media. They will create in graphite, charcoal, watercolor, pastel and more. Daily projects will include everything from animals, plants, rocks, water and the like….all inspired by the ocean and shoreline.

Horse Drawing Workshop (rising 1st-6th graders)

For the equestrian lover in all of us…this drawing workshop will provide detailed instructions in how to draw this majestic creature. The horse is a very difficult creature to draw, but our process will teach you how – using simplified steps and confidence building activities. This very fun workshop will teach you to draw this beautiful animal in many different settings and using many different media. We will also draw a few other animals that can be found around the barn. You and your family will be amazed at the progress you will make.

Kids Watercolors (ages 6-10)

‘Playing in the Water’ is the focus of this fun class for kids. Students will create some 3-D items to decorate their rooms, and a transparency of one of their paintings too. While working with tube paints, students will learn how to mix paint with water appropriately. Materials fee covers in-class supplies and a set of paints.
