Our volunteers have tremendously impacted our ability to provide affordable arts education and entertainment to the surrounding community since The Center opened in 1999. Over the past year, our volunteers were able to donate a combined 1,200 volunteer hours to help support the arts in the community! This year we have even more exciting programs planned and we would appreciate your involvement and support.

There are a variety of ways to become involved at The Center which are highlighted below under our Volunteer Job Descriptions . Volunteer Job Descriptions

Ushering

Fresh, smiling faces are needed to welcome our guests to The Center, collect tickets and to assist in answering questions and pointing guests in the right direction. If interested in ushering, call 264-0938 and speak with Pam Dickerson.

Front Desk

Courteous and flexible volunteers are needed to cover the front desk from time to time. Volunteers will greet guests, answer questions and take messages during this time, which usually lasts no longer than two hours.

Gift Shop

Enthusiastic and personable volunteers are needed to staff our Atack Family Gift Shop. Volunteers will engage in conversation with customers and show off new merchandise. These volunteers must be dependable as well as comfortable using a computer and a cash register.

Gallery Opening

Proactive volunteers are needed to help prepare for gallery openings. Volunteers will assist with setting up the refreshments before the reception and will help to serve and monitor refreshments during the reception. Business casual dress is recommended.

Upcoming Event Volunteer Opportunities

Arts Celebration (April 12-13, 2008)

Volunteers are needed to serve on a committee to plan the 2008 Arts Celebration for The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen.

The Arts Celebration is a two-day, admission-free family event which highlights the best of The Center’s year-round offerings while also showcasing area talent and cultural groups.  Workshops and performances in dance, theatre, storytelling, music and the literary, culinary and visual arts blend with interactive crafts, enticing the creative spirit in all ages.

The 2008 Arts Celebration will be held on April 12-13.  The volunteer committee will assist with planning interactive activities (both indoor and outdoor), planning and execution of decorations for the event, and managing artist vendor booth spaces.  There will be three full meetings of the committee (late October, mid January and late March).  The committee will also be broken into subcommittees to work on the various components who will meet in between the full committee meetings.
